For controllers and auditors
The Controls add-on reads the same GP data your close does and looks for what an auditor would: unusual journal entries, payments that should make you pause, and people who can do too much on their own.
What Controls adds
Journal entry review
Every manual entry posted in a range is scored for what auditors look for: large or round amounts, weekend or late posting, posting long after period end, rarely used accounts, cash and control accounts, and the same person entering and posting. Mark each one reviewed with a note, and export the list for your auditor's sample.
Payables fraud signals
Possible duplicate invoices (the same vendor and amount close together, or numbers that differ only by punctuation or leading zeros) and payments made soon after a vendor was set up or its bank details or remit-to address changed.
GP access review
Who can do what in GP, the duties one person shouldn't hold together (setting up vendors and paying them, say), dormant users and power users, with a signed quarterly review your auditor can read.
Auditor requests
The auditor's request list with owners, due dates, answers and files, downloaded for the auditor in one zip and kept in the close binder.
Evidence that ties
Tie-outs for Payables, Receivables, Fixed Assets, the bank and the trial balance, as of any period end, with live formulas and every reconciling item listed.
Who did what
Every fix, approval, sign-off and security change is logged with the Windows user who made it. Fixes that change posted amounts need a second approver.
Tie-outs on the close checklist
The Payables, Receivables and Fixed Assets tie-outs are tasks on the close checklist, verified from GP: each completes itself when its subledger ties to the GL, and each has its Excel workbook a click away, as of the period end.
A workbook that proves itself
Each tie-out is an Excel workbook as of the date you pick: the subledger, the GL control accounts, unposted entries and every reconciling item, with live formulas. Ledger Doctor checks its own work before you get it, and says how.
For your auditors
Nothing in Controls changes GP. It reads GP's own tables, and what it finds stays on your server unless someone exports it. A finding that's expected can be marked as expected with a reason, and that reason is kept.
What it costs
Controls is $2,400 a year on either plan: Essentials + Controls is $4,800 a year, and the Full package (Close + Controls) is $6,000. Compare the plans.
