Checks and areas

StatusColorWhat it means
ErrorRedA check found something that needs review: usually a subledger that doesn't tie to the GL, data that's inconsistent, or a backup that's 30 days old or has never run.
AttentionOrangeBetween a warning and an error. Today it's used for backups more than 7 days old.
WarningYellowA check found something that's usually simple to deal with, like a stuck batch or a record lock. A check that couldn't run also shows as a warning.
HealthyGreenEvery check in the area found nothing. Used for areas, on the dashboard.
Not installedGrayThe company doesn't use that GP module.

Each check has its own status; Every check Ledger Doctor runs lists them. An area takes the worst status of its checks.

In an area's list of checks, a check that found nothing says Nothing found, without a color. It only proves that one problem isn't there, so it isn't called healthy.

Backup age

The last full backup of each GP database is checked against three ages, each with two hours' grace so a nightly backup that runs a little late doesn't set it off. The checks overlap: a database with no backup in 45 days shows in all three, so none of them looks fine while a backup is overdue. Each lists the database and how many days old its last full backup is.

  • More than a day old: Warning.
  • More than a week old: Attention.
  • More than 30 days old: Error.
  • Never backed up: all three.

Close tasks

The close checklist uses its own statuses:

  • Complete: done, by a person or by a check.
  • On track: not done, and not due yet.
  • At risk: due today or the next business day, or a step it waits for is overdue.
  • Overdue: past its due date.
