Review an issue
Choose Review or Preview fix on the health dashboard, or a check on an area page, to open its issue page.
What's on the page
- The title and a summary line: the area, how many records it found, how many are marked as expected, and when it was scanned.
- What's wrong: the problem in plain English, and its financial impact where there is one.
- Records found: the GP records the check found, 500 to a page. When there are more, Next 500 and Previous 500 move between pages (up to 10,000 records); nothing starts ticked: tick the records to fix (they stay ticked from page to page), or choose Tick every row (Tick every row on every page when there are several pages); Untick all clears them. Columns and codes read in plain words, like Batch, Customer and Document type: Payment, and amounts show to the cent with separators (a fraction of a cent stays visible, as 0.004). Point at a heading or a value to see GP's own column name or code, for checking it against SQL. A record with a guide has a Guide me button offering only the guides that fit it: a payment can be voided, an invoice can't.
- Marked as expected: records an approver said are correct as they are. See Mark a finding as expected.
- Fix: when the check has a one-click fix, its rule and the Preview fix button. See Preview, apply and undo a fix.
Recheck after you fix something
Most problems are fixed in GP: post the batch, run Check Links, correct the document. Then choose Recheck to run just this check again. The page refreshes with the new result, and any close task tied to the check completes itself when it comes back clean.
Tie-out checks
Issues for the AP, AR, Fixed Assets, bank and trial balance checks have an As of date (last month end unless you change it) and a button to download the matching tie-out workbook. See Download a tie-out.
The AP and AR tie checks also show How the difference has moved: each time a nightly scan found a different amount, with the difference before and after unposted GL. A change points to the day something posted on one side that the other didn't get.
Before you start: posting the batches a close check lists
When a close check asks you to post batches (Payables, Sales, General Ledger or Inventory), Before you start checks GP just then for what would stop the posting, and lists only what's in the way, with where to change it in GP. Ledger Doctor never changes these settings itself. It looks at batches someone has open or marked for posting (and tells a batch open in your own GP apart, once your GP user ID is in My preferences), batch approval, closed periods and years, and accounts GP won't take. For Sales batches it also lists invoices GP won't post as they are: serial or lot numbers not assigned for the quantity shipped, quantities on back order or not fulfilled, and documents in another currency with no exchange rate for their document date. A guide on one of those batches (Guide me on its row) shows the same list for that batch only, with Check again, under the guide's own Before you start.
When it says to ask your GP partner
Some problems need a person who knows GP, like a year closed without its detail or a tie-out that's off. Wherever Ledger Doctor says to take something to your GP partner or consultant, it also offers Ask us to recommend a GP partner, consultant or reseller. Say what you need help with and how to reach you, and we'll recommend a Dynamics GP partner, consultant or reseller (VAR) who fits, usually within 2 business days. Only what you type is sent, plus the issue's title and how many records it found, never the records. Anyone who works the close can ask.
That's for help in GP. If you're moving off GP, share your migration assessment instead, and we'll introduce you to an implementation partner.
