Mark a finding as expected

Some findings are right for your company. A deferred revenue account set up as balance sheet under an income category, say, or a large journal entry you've already reviewed. An approver can mark the record as expected so it stops showing as a problem.

Mark a record

  1. Open the issue. Checks that allow it have a Mark as expected button on each record. Only approvers see it.
  2. Choose Mark as expected on the record, type why it's correct, and choose Mark as expected again. A reason is required, so the next person, or your auditor, knows why.

The check runs again right away. The record moves to Marked as expected on the issue page and no longer counts toward the issue or the area's status.

How long a mark lasts

A mark matches the record by the data in it. It lasts until that data changes: if someone edits the record in GP, the check flags it again and the old mark says it no longer applies. Marks don't expire on a date.

Remove a mark

Approvers can choose Remove mark in the Marked as expected list. The check runs again right away and the record counts again. Who removed the mark, and when, is kept.

Where marks show up

  • The issue page, with who marked each record, when and why.
  • The close binder's check results, on a "Marked as expected" sheet.

Which checks can be marked is listed in Every check Ledger Doctor runs.
