The page won't load or the service won't start
These steps are on the Ledger Doctor server, as an administrator.
1. Is the service running?
Open Services and find Ledger Doctor. If it's stopped, choose Start. If it stops again, or won't start, look in Ledger Doctor's log file, C:\ProgramData\Ledger Doctor\Logs\service.log, and in Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application, for errors from Ledger Doctor around that time.
2. Ask the service how it is
On the server, open http://localhost:47474/health (or your port). It answers with the version, whether it can reach SQL Server ("sql": true), and whether its database is up to date ("schema": "ok").
- "sql": false: the service can't reach SQL Server. Check that SQL Server is running and reachable from this server. If someone changed or reset the LedgerDoctor SQL login, run setup again and choose Update or change settings.
- "schema": "failed": the database upgrade after an update didn't finish. The reason is in
C:\ProgramData\Ledger Doctor\Logs\service.logand in Event Viewer. Run setup again with Update or change settings, or email us the error.
After an update
If an update installed with Install update now doesn't come up, Ledger Doctor puts the version you had back by itself, and the dashboard says why. If the page still isn't back after 30 minutes, check the steps above, and look at the "Ledger Doctor update" task in Task Scheduler.
