Scans: the first one and every night

A scan runs every check against the GP system database and each GP company Ledger Doctor monitors. Scans only read GP; they never change it.

About 50 seconds, narrated, with captions. Sample company, made-up data.

When scans run

  • After setup: the first scan runs when setup finishes, unless you unchecked Run the first scan when setup finishes.
  • Every night at 5:45 AM (the server's time). On SQL Server with SQL Agent, an Agent job runs it. On SQL Server Express, which has no SQL Agent, the Ledger Doctor service runs it instead. Setup arranges this for you.
  • When you ask: see below.

Each scan also looks for GP companies added since the last one.

Scan now

  1. On the health dashboard, choose Scan now. The button says Scanning… until it's done, then the page refreshes.
  2. On the Close page, Rescan now scans the company you're looking at and refreshes the checklist.

Approvers can also run a scan from Settings under Background jobs.

Recheck one check

After you fix something, you don't need a full scan. On an issue page, choose Recheck to run just that check again. On the close checklist, tasks verified by a check have their own Recheck button.
