What it covers

One license covers one install: the SQL Server that holds your GP databases, with every GP company on it and as many users as you like. Check library updates and new versions are included.

There are two plans. Essentials covers the checks, fixes, tie-outs, close checklist and daily email. Close adds account reconciliations, flux analysis, the bank reconciliation tie-out, and Teams and Slack. Close features carry a Close plan label in Ledger Doctor; see Plans and the Close plan label and pricing. To move from Essentials to Close, see Upgrade to Close.

Where the key is used

  • Setup asks for it first and checks it with our server before it changes anything.
  • The download page asks for it before you download Ledger Doctor.
  • Your install keeps it in its settings file on the server, readable only by administrators and the service, and sends it with its heartbeat and update checks so our server knows it's licensed.

The key is on the page you landed on after ordering. We keep only a fingerprint of it, so if you've lost it we can't send it again, but you can get a new one: go to api.myledgerdoctor.com/recover-key and enter the email address your license is under. We email a link that works once, for an hour. When you open it and confirm, your new key is shown and the old one stops working; on your Ledger Doctor server, run setup, choose Update and enter the new key. Your install, plan and history stay as they are. No access to that mailbox any more? Email support@myledgerdoctor.com.

If it lapses

If the license is canceled or expires, our server stops sending your install new check libraries and new versions; the update job on the Settings page shows it failed. Your install keeps running the checks it has. To change the key, run setup again on the server and choose Update or change settings.
